The Due Diligence for Workers course helps Canadian workers understand their legal responsibilities under Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) law. Across industries, workers can and do face prosecution when they fail to meet their duties, making it essential to understand how safety laws function and why due diligence matters. Employers are required to ensure workers know their rights, responsibilities, and the legal framework that governs workplace safety. This program simplifies complex OHS concepts to give workers clear, practical guidance.

Through animated, scenario-based storytelling—with humour woven throughout—the training explores differing levels of safety culture across a fictional workplace. Learners follow Milo, the Lead OHS Officer, as he explains the three types of safety laws and how each one may impact workers. Participants discover what it means to act with due diligence, why documentation matters, and how workers can influence a safer, more positive work environment.

By understanding their own duties—as well as the duties of supervisors and employers—workers learn how they fit into the Internal Responsibility System and how their actions contribute to preventing incidents, supporting safety culture, and complying with legal obligations.

Workers are the foundation of a strong safety culture. Knowing how OHS laws apply, understanding workplace rights, and taking reasonable precautions helps prevent injuries and ensures compliance. This course provides the knowledge workers need to recognize hazards, participate in safety processes, and demonstrate due diligence through their daily actions.
