Electrical Hazards and Safety
What is Electrical Hazards and Safety?
Electrical hazards are a common risk in almost every workplace, from offices and warehouses to construction sites and industrial facilities. The Electrical Hazards and Safety Awareness course equips workers with the knowledge to recognize basic electrical risks, understand how shocks and fires occur, and take steps to protect themselves and others. Through practical guidance and real-world examples, learners explore safe use of tools and equipment, hazard recognition, and proper responses during electrical emergencies. By building this foundational awareness, employees can reduce incidents, prevent injuries, and contribute to a safer work environment.
Course Overview
The Electrical Safety Awareness course prepares workers to safely identify and manage basic electrical hazards in the workplace. While the training does not cover arc-flash hazards, lockout/tagout procedures, or high-voltage systems (220V/440V), it provides a strong foundation for recognizing common risks associated with everyday electrical equipment and environments.
Learners will explore how electricity works, how shocks occur, and which workplace conditions increase the likelihood of injury. The course also reviews essential safety practices, including proper use of tools and equipment, hazard recognition, and preventive measures that reduce the risk of electrical fires or shock incidents. Participants will also learn how to respond appropriately during an electrical emergency to protect themselves and those around them.
By the end of the course, workers will have a clearer understanding of how electrical hazards develop and what steps they can take to stay safe during routine tasks.
Electrical hazards are present in nearly every workplace—from extension cords and power tools to motors and plug-in equipment. Understanding how electricity behaves, what conditions are dangerous, and how to respond in an emergency helps prevent serious injuries.
