Learners will become familiar with key organizations and standards such as the Canadian Council of Motor Transport
Administrators (CCMTA), the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA), the North American Cargo Securement Standard
(NACSS), and the National Safety Code’s Standard 10. Alberta-specific regulations—including the Commercial Vehicle
Safety Regulation (AR121/2009) and the Commercial Vehicle Certificate and Insurance Regulation (AR314/2002)—are also
covered.

From there, the course explores the practical side of securement. You will learn about the different devices and
systems used to secure cargo, methods available for various types of loads, and how to carry out inspections
throughout a trip. Additional chapters focus on safe handling practices, including the proper use of personal
protective equipment (PPE), and the unique securement requirements for specialized cargo like logs, metal coils,
vehicles, and intermodal containers.

and intermodal containers.
