Course Overview
The Construction Law course provides a practical and comprehensive introduction to the legal principles that shape construction projects across Canada. Through 12 video modules and 10 hours of expert instruction, participants learn how contract law applies to construction work, how to navigate common legal challenges, and how to prevent disputes before they occur.
The training begins with the foundations of the Canadian legal system, contract formation, and key requirements such as offer, acceptance, consideration, and legality. Learners then explore construction-specific contracts—including CCDC, CCA, and other industry-standard agreements—while developing an understanding of how responsibilities, risk, specifications, drawings, and documentation fit into a project’s legal framework.
As the course progresses, participants gain practical skills in preparing RFIs, managing change orders, submitting claims, avoiding back charges, and resolving disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation. The curriculum also covers builders liens, debt collection, bonding, surety, insurance, environmental law, and safety regulations.
