Alberta’s Tech Industry: An Opportunity for Talented Professionals
According to Technology Alberta, the province has an abundance of tech talent. Unfortunately, there is a perception that local opportunities are limited, and many students move to other provinces or countries after graduating.
Multinational tech companies that market their products and services to wider audiences are easier to identify, and many talented professionals look for job opportunities with them in other countries. There is a growing tech industry in Alberta, but many companies develop products and services for business clients, and their public visibility is limited – this is exactly what Technology Alberta wants to change.
When Alberta’s tech talent can find local opportunities, education investments offer local returns. This creates a greater incentive to develop local talent. Also, there are tech companies who have difficulties filling their open positions, simply because they lack visibility.
