Electricity is a leading cause of workplace injuries and fatalities in the construction industry each year. The Electrocution Hazards Part I: Worksite Safety course provides essential information on how to recognize, prevent, and control electrical hazards at the job site.

Learners will understand how hundreds of deaths and injuries occur annually due to electrocution hazards, and how most of these incidents are preventable with proper awareness and safe work procedures. This course outlines the federal OSHA standards designed to protect workers, including 29 CFR 1926 Subparts C, I, and K. Participants will learn about power line safety, equipment operation near high-voltage lines, and proper grounding and GFCI use.

By the end of this course, learners will know how to identify electrical hazards, follow proper lockout/tagout procedures, and apply safety practices that reduce the risk of electrocution in any work environment.

This training focuses on building a strong foundation in electrical hazard awareness and regulatory compliance. Workers will learn how to apply OSHA standards, inspect equipment, and take proactive steps to prevent contact with live electrical components.

• Electrical Hazards and OSHA Standards – Overview of key OSHA regulations, including Subpart K (Electrical) and related sections.
• High Voltage Power Lines – Safe distances, power line identification, and equipment operation protocols.
• Tools, Extension Cords, and Receptacles – Proper inspection, maintenance, and safe use of electrical tools.
• Grounding, Continuity, and GFCIs – Understanding circuit protection and how GFCIs prevent electrical shock.
• Lockout/Tagout – Procedures to safely isolate electrical energy before maintenance or repair work.

This online training takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. Learners can start, pause, and resume at their own convenience for flexible study.

A passing mark of 80% is required to successfully complete this course. Knowledge checks and final testing reinforce understanding of safe electrical work practices.
