COLD STRESS ONLINE COURSE OVERVIEW<\/strong><\/h1>\n

If you are exposed to extreme cold in your work environment, you could be at risk of what the Occupation Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) calls \u201ccold stress\u201d illnesses and injuries. These include dangerous conditions such as hypothermia and trench foot resulting from direct exposure. The cold is particularly dangerous because it can slow you down and cause damage before you even know it is happening.<\/p>\n

Those most affected by cold stress are those working outdoors or without shelter, such as ocean fishermen, energy exploration workers in the North, high-altitude workers, and construction personnel, but those working indoors with insufficient building insulation, ventilation, and heating are also at risk. To avoid cold stress, you must be adequately protected against cold conditions and trained to recognize the symptoms and treatment of cold stresses.<\/p>\n
