Closing roads is a common solution when traffic interferes with the project, but when this is not possible, contractors must rely on traffic control persons \u2013 also known as TCP, flag persons,\u00a0<strong>flaggers<\/strong>\u00a0or signalers.<\/p>\n<p>Selon le\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ccohs.ca\/oshanswers\/safety_haz\/road_work\/traffic_control_person.html\">Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety<\/a>\u00a0(CCOSH), the roles of a traffic control person are the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Guiding traffic safely through construction sites by stopping, slowing or directing vehicles.<\/li>\n<li>Regulating traffic as needed to protect workers.<\/li>\n<li>Giving clear directions and signals, so drivers understand exactly what to do.<\/li>\n<li>Controlling traffic without causing more congestion or delay than necessary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In most Canadian provinces and territories, training is legally required for traffic control persons, and each jurisdiction has its own laws. This\u00a0<strong>TCP course<\/strong>\u00a0meets the Ontario Traffic Manual \u2013 Book 7 \u2013 Temporary Conditions and OSHA Safety
