Crane Safety Course Gives Worker Safety a Lift
Cranes are one of the most dangerous pieces of equipment on a job site, and their safe operation requires a thorough understanding of crane types, equipment anatomy, and inspection and maintenance procedures. The latest in crane safety courses from Hard Hat Training, Overhead Crane Awareness, was designed with these requirements in mind to help workers familiarize themselves with overhead crane safe operation procedures.
This course was also designed with the goal in mind to help prevent overhead crane injuries and fatalities. Most fatalities involving cranes are a result of improper maintenance or being struck by a crane or its load. Therefore, this course will teach workers to prepare safety checklists, identify hazards, and perform maintenance related to:
- Fall protection
- Lever hoists
- Chain falls
- Mobile gantries
- Trolleys
Throughout this course, workers will learn about the different crane types they may encounter on the job site, including overhead cranes, floor-mounted jib, wall-mounted jibs, and monorail cranes. In addition to crane types, workers will become familiar with crane parts and inspections required to ensure wire rope and rigging avoid wear, stress fractures, bird-caging, and two-blocking. Information on proper machine maintenance, pre-shift duties, and other procedures around safe machine operation are also covered.
Overhead Crane Awareness was created by Hard Hat Training, a division of Safety Provisions Inc. that provides affordable, digital safety training to companies around North America.
