What is Lockout Tagout (LOTO) Training?
This comprehensive Lockout Tagout (LOTO) online course provides essential knowledge on how to recognize, control, and safely isolate hazardous energy sources in the workplace. Learners will explore the purpose of LOTO, understand its importance in preventing serious injuries, and learn how to correctly apply lockout and tagout procedures before maintenance or servicing tasks begin.
Présentation du cours
Hazardous energy can exist in many forms – electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, and thermal and is a common risk across multiple industries. Accidental release of this energy can cause severe injuries or fatalities. Implementing a proper Lockout Tagout system ensures that machinery and equipment are completely de-energized and secured before anyone begins maintenance or repair work.
This online training follows the guidance of recognized standards such as CSA Z460 and CSA Z462, focusing on practical strategies for isolating and controlling energy sources safely and effectively.
The course is divided into four key sections:
- Roles and Responsibilities in LOTO – Identifying who is responsible for what in the process.
- Types of Hazardous Energy –Understanding the different forms of stored and active energy.
- Developing Effective LOTO Procedures –Creating step-by-step methods for safe energy control.
- Applying Locks and Tags –Demonstrating proper lockout and tagout techniques.
A final knowledge test ensures that participants fully grasp the concepts before certification.
