Telehandler Safety
Telehandler Safety
What is Telehandler Safety?
Telehandler Safety is an online course designed to introduce learners to the knowledge needed before practical operator and site-specific training. Through practical, scenario-based learning, participants review core safety responsibilities, equipment basics, common hazards, and safe operating procedures. This training is suited to workers who use or may use telehandlers and need a stronger understanding of inspections, movements, and workplace risk awareness.
Course Overview
Telehandlers are used across many worksites because they can lift, move, and place materials in a wide range of applications. That versatility also creates added risk when operators are unfamiliar with equipment limitations, jobsite hazards, or safe movement practices. This course helps fill that knowledge gap by introducing the general safety principles and procedures that support more informed equipment operation.
The training is delivered in two parts. The first part covers Mobile Equipment Operator Safety, including responsibilities, powered mobile equipment basics, hazards, and pre-operation checks. The second part focuses on telehandler-specific topics such as machine basics, safety features, inspections, hazards, travelling, and safe movements. Together, these modules provide foundational knowledge to support safer decisions before hands-on and site-specific instruction.
Telehandlers are valuable machines on many jobsites, but their versatility can also increase the chance of incidents when risks are not recognized early. Poor inspections, unsafe travel, limited hazard awareness, and improper operation can contribute to equipment damage, struck-by events, or other serious workplace outcomes.
This course helps address those risks by introducing the core knowledge operators need before moving into practical training. It supports a better understanding of responsibilities, pre-operation inspections, hazard recognition, and safer operating habits. For professionals working around heavy equipment, this training also supports workplace safety expectations and strengthens overall operator readiness.
